Hiking to the top

Hiking to the top

There’s nothing like going on long hikes, and not worrying about where the bathroom is.  (Incidentally, it is behind the tree.)

Now that’s the life! I’m still not used to how big I am – no longer the sickly 100 pound girl, that’s for sure.

And now I've traveled around the world.

  1. Awesome pictures, that’s great that you’re leading a “normal” life now that you have an ileostomy. Pardon me, this is the first post I’ve read. Do you have an external stoma? Do you have Crohn’s disease or colitis? I have Crohn’s, and have had much of my small bowel removed. My brother and my father had ileostomies for Crohn’s disease. My brother is also doing well with his ileostomy which he has had for many years. Kudos to you for your positivity and optimism!

    • I had “Crohn’s colitis” – technically Crohn’s disease, primarily diagnosed by the presence of peri-anal disease, fistulas, etc., but all of the inflammation was confined to the colon and rectum. Because it is “crohn’s” the doctors won’t say that I am “cured” as they would if it were technically UC, but because my inflammation never touched the small bowel even in my sickest days, I’m pretty confident that my ileostomy was, in fact, a cure. I have an external stoma.

  2. FYI, the Anna York link seems to have changed, as this one from your links section doesn’t work for me: http://www.annayork.com/Anna_York/Anna_York.html

I thought you would like to know.

On a different topic, thank you for making a link to Ostomy Outdoors on your blog!

    • Thanks, I updated Anna York’s link. :)

  3. I just got an e-mail from my daughter giving me the link to your blog… I’ve been reading with tears in my eyes. I am 47 and I got a temporary ileostomy ten months ago and she is always trying to cheer me up. Reading your Yoga blog made me finally decide to accept my daughters invitation for so long to go to a yoga session with her… Let’s see how it goes… Thank you!

    • So glad to hear it! I hope the yoga is going well!

      • Thank you for this blog my hubby & I needed info on travel and you’re the only one we found than you so much. J.

      • you’re welcome! happy travels! :)
